FSC AND FJL CELEBRATE THE LAUNCH OF FUKUJIN MARU—A PROUD TRIBUTE TO 150 YEARS OF MARITIME LEGACY
FAIR Shipping Corporation, in proud partnership with Fukujin Kisen Co., Ltd. (FJL), marked a historic milestone with the official launch of the handysize vessel Fukujin Maru. Held at the Shin Kurushima Dockyard on July 3, 2025, the ceremony celebrated not only the delivery of a state-of-the-art vessel but also the 150th founding anniversary of FJL, a remarkable legacy built on leadership, resilience, and innovation in global shipping.
The Fukujin Maru stands as far more than just a vessel, it is a bold emblem of FJL’s enduring commitment to maritime excellence. Seamlessly blending tradition with forward-looking innovation, the launch captures the essence of what it means to honor a storied past while embracing a dynamic and evolving future. At the helm of this commemorative vessel is Captain Erwin Euphremus A. Sarmiento, a proud graduate of the pioneering batch of FSC-FJL sponsored cadets, now entrusted with commanding this symbol of legacy and ambition. Leading the Engine Department is Chief Engineer Gerry A. Claros, a respected member of FSC since 2002. Together with them were the dedicated officers and crew, that embody the operational strength and values that define both FSC and FJL.
The occasion was further honored by the presence of Captain Roberto Arcilla, General Crewing Manager of FSC Crewing Team 2, together with Ms. Christene G. Jovita, Crewing/Operation Officer who personally attended the naming and delivery ceremony, a gesture of the deep and continuing partnership between both organizations.
