PGN (Panay-Guimaras-Negros) SHIP HANDLING SIMULATION BRIDGE PROJECT

Recently, FSC TRAINING CENTER INC. signed a Technology Service Contract, a mutual agreement between Mokpo National Maritime University (MMU) Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and FSC Training Center Inc. (FSCTCI) to conduct and facilitate the PGN (Panay-Guimaras-Negros) Ship Handling Simulation (SHS) Bridge Project for local government authorities from Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Harbor Pilots, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Port Authority (PPA), and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who are based in the region.

The SHS Bridge Project aims to build two (2) bridges from Panay to Guimaras and Guimaras to Negros with a distance of more or less 33 kilometers connecting the three (3) islands of Panay.

SHS Training was conducted in two batches on August 11 to 12 and August 14 to 15, 2025. It underscored one of the project’s most critical components, ensuring the safe and well-ordered passage of vessels beneath the proposed long-span, cable stayed bridges. Through the training, participants were able to replicate and analyze the real navigational conditions in the Iloilo Strait and Guimaras Strait. They were actively engaged in the simulations, evaluating vessel maneuvering conditions under various scenarios. Participants were grouped and tasked to perform daytime scenarios and nighttime scenarios including restricted visibility.
